Sponsor Our ArticlesSHREVEPORT, La. – Crawfish enthusiasts in Shreveport are gearing up for the 40th anniversary of the annual Mudbug Madness festival, set to take place in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza from May 24 to May 26.
What started as a humble street festival in 1984 has evolved into one of Louisiana’s premier Cajun gatherings, drawing crowds from near and far to celebrate the beloved crustacean. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, offering attendees a taste of delicious crawfish and other mouthwatering fare from a variety of vendors.
Music lovers will be in for a treat with performances from 30 bands on two stages throughout the festival. Headliners such as Cowboy Mouth, Dwayne Dopsie, Reed Foley, Sammy Kershaw, and Terrance Simien are sure to provide a toe-tapping good time for all attendees. In addition to the musical lineup, visitors can also look forward to exciting crawfish-eating contests and a showcase of goods from local artisans and vendors.
While the festival boasts a lively atmosphere for adults, there will be plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Kids under 12 and those with a military I.D. get in for free, making it an affordable outing for all. From live music to delicious food and interactive contests, there’s something for everyone at Mudbug Madness.
Organizers have laid out a list of prohibited items to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all festival-goers. From restrictions on backpacks and outside food to weapons and drugs, attendees are urged to familiarize themselves with the guidelines before heading to the event. Admission is free until 5 p.m. on Friday, with a $10 fee per person or $15 for a three-day pass for the remainder of the weekend.
