News Summary

Shreveport is seeing an unexpected mixture of warm weather and a predicted cold snap. With temperatures reaching close to 80°F this week before plummeting below 20°F, residents are advised to stay prepared for rapid weather changes. The week also includes a chance of rain and potential snow, marking a significant shift from the current warmth. Keep your weather apps handy and stay safe!

Shreveport Weather Gets a Bit Wacky with Warm Temperatures Before a Cold Snap

Hey Shreveport! It looks like the weather has decided to put on a little show for us this week. If you’ve stepped outside, you’ve probably noticed that it’s unseasonably warm—almost like Mother Nature couldn’t decide whether it’s winter or early spring! Temperatures are soaring close to a balmy 80°F, which is quite a nice treat for this time of year.

Sunny Days Ahead

Tomorrow, you can expect a delightful mix of sunshine and clouds with the highs creeping up to around 79°F. So, if you’re planning to take a stroll or maybe even an outdoor lunch, this Tuesday’s weather is calling your name! You can look forward to some light south winds blowing at a gentle 5 mph. By nighttime, expect those temps to drop to a cozy 65°F under partly cloudy skies. Sounds perfect for a laid-back evening!

Brace for Winds and Warming

However, don’t get too comfortable just yet! As we move into Wednesday, wind gusts could pick up speed reaching up to 20 mph. This means you might want to hold onto your hats if you’re heading out! And Thursday? Brace yourself, because it looks like temperatures may peak at a warm 81°F—just another reminder that the weather is feeling a bit mischievous.

Weekend Weather Shake-Up

As we approach the weekend, it seems like the warm spell may be coming to an end with a shift in the weather. Grab your umbrellas, as Saturday night brings about a 20% chance of showers, which will ramp up to a 40% chance on Sunday. Fortunately, this rain is much-needed, as it could bring some moisture to the parched lands around Shreveport.

If you’ve made any weekend plans, you might want to have a backup ready since rain could put a damper on outdoor activities. For those traveling along I-20, keep an eye out for slick roads by Sunday as conditions might get dicey!

Expect a Cold Front

Things are about to flip drastically after the weekend, as forecasters are predicting extreme cold temperatures set to hit the ArkLaTex region. We’re looking at lows falling below 20 degrees on Sunday night, which will certainly make you want to cozy up under a blanket! Monday doesn’t look much better either, with a 25% chance of rain and even lingering nighttime temperatures that could nosedive below freezing.

And guess what? There’s a possibility of snow in the northern parts of Louisiana as those temps dip. Monday night could see a 20% chance of snow showers as we’re looking at those highs barely creeping above 37 degrees on Tuesday.

A Chilly Week Ahead

If you’re not a fan of the cold, just hang in there a bit longer! Tuesday is expected to have a mix of clouds and possibly rain, along with a 30% chance of snow flurries. Wednesday might bring a few relief as temperatures bounce back to above freezing, although we still have a 25% chance of additional rain.

As for Thursday and Friday, be prepared for more moisture! There’s an 84% chance of rain mixed with sleet on Thursday, while Friday carries a hefty 70% chance of morning rain and sleet. What a rollercoaster ride of weather we’ve got coming up!

Stay Informed and Safe!

In the midst of it all, a tornado watch was recently issued for parts of Bossier Parish, and some areas have reported severe weather incidents like half-inch hail in Magnolia Chase and wind damage over in Gilmer, Texas. Luckily, power outages have been minimal, with only about 2% of customers in Bossier Parish affected.

So, keep your weather apps handy, folks! Whether you’re out soaking up the sun or bracing for the cold, Shreveport’s weather is keeping us on our toes. Stay safe and warm out there!
