Convicted felon arrested for police chase in Shreveport
SHREVEPORT, La. – A previously convicted felon has been arrested after reportedly leading Shreveport police on a car chase. The Shreveport Police Department says on Saturday, March 2 around 5 p.m., officers tried to pull over a car at the intersection of W 70th Street and W Canal Street.
Xavier Jamison, 24, leads police on a chase
The driver, later identified as Xavier Jamison, 24, reportedly refused to stop and led police on a chase through the area. After a short chase, Jamison stopped in the 2900 block of Sunset Circle, got out of the car, and tried to run away. Officers were able to catch him though.
Arrest reveals possession of drugs and a gun
During Jamison’s arrest, it was discovered he was in possession of drugs and a gun, police say. Further investigation revealed Jamison is a convicted felon, meaning it is illegal for him to have a gun. Jamison is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
