Serving the Community for 80 Years

Shreveport, LA – Strawn’s Eat Shop, a beloved local eatery, is marking eight decades of serving the community off Kings Highway this summer. “We’ve been around for generations,” remarked Angela Erwin, the cafe’s long-standing twenty-years manager. “It’s something I hope continues for more generations.”

Per Erwin’s observation, Strawn’s Eat Shop is a distinguishing feature of Shreveport. The restaurant is known and revered for its lineage of welcoming generations of families.

A Delight for Food Lovers

Strawn’s Eat Shop specializes in maintaining a menu that is enticing to all family members. Breakfast lovers can enjoy classic meals like pancakes, bacon, eggs, and biscuits. Fried chicken and burgers are there for lunch aficionados. But the most famous item on the menu is, without a doubt, their strawberry pie.

Butter Gauthier, the owner of Strawn’s Eat Shop, was quoted saying, “There’s nothing like it. When you eat the pie, you’ll understand.” The diner also whips up other well-loved desserts like chocolate and coconut pies, among others.

Community Bonding Over Food

Strawn’s isn’t the only place that serves up delicious strawberry pie, but it’s the sense of community, the familiarity, and the welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back. As Erwin puts it, “We know them by name, we know what they eat, when they come in. It’s nice to go somewhere you feel comfortable.”

Strawn’s reputation is not only confined to providing mouth-watering meals but also strengthening social bonds. Their customers, new and old, are more than mere patrons. They share a sense of camaraderie, a sense of family.

Strawn’s: A Pillar of Community Pride

Gauthier shared his gratitude for the Shreveport community, considering Strawn’s Eat Shop an important addition to the town’s social fabric. He said, “Shreveport needs a place like this. We’ve been here a long time thanks to them, appreciate you, thank you.”

For those interested in experiencing the Strawn’s charm firsthand, there are two additional locations to visit – one on Youree Drive, and another on Airline Drive in Bossier City, both managed by Gauthier’s daughters.
