Shreveport Farmers’ Market is coming back for its 38th year
The Shreveport Farmers’ Market is back for another season. The Red River Revel, Inc. announced Tuesday that the 38th summer farmers’ market is coming back to Shreveport on June 1. The Shreveport Farmers’ Market serves the community by providing weekly markets every Saturday starting June 1 through August 24. This market is free to the public and opens at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.
What to Expect
Over 75 vendors come out each week to sell a variety of homegrown and homemade items such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants, honey, breads, jams, jellies, pastries, candies, pickles, cheeses, shrimp, various canned goods, seasonings, sauces, and meats. In addition to food, local artisans that have handcrafted items such as art, jewelry, crafts, candles, soaps, and dog treats will come out and sell their goods.
The Shreveport Farmers’ Market is the only USDA-Approved farmers’ market in the Shreveport-Bossier community. Meaning it allows for acceptance and use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The Red River Revel said in a press release, “area SNAP recipients will be able to gain access to fresh, nutritious, local produce at the Shreveport Farmers’ Market while boosting the local economy by shopping with local farmers, ranchers, and artisans.”
