City of Shreveport requests public help in locating missing man

The Shreveport Police Department issued a public appeal on April 17, 2024 seeking assistance in locating Kendall Wayne Adams who disappeared in late February. Adams, who is also known as Wayne, has not been heard from since he reportedly arrived in Atlanta, Georgia.

Based on the information provided by his family, Adams was last seen boarding a Greyhound bus bound for Atlanta on February 20 or 21. He communicated with his family upon reaching his destination, but there has been no further contact since then.

Description of the Missing Man

Adams is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light-blue plaid shirt, and tennis shoes with blue accents. He also has a distinctive tattoo on his upper left arm. Family members expressed particular concern due to a medical condition Adams has, which necessitates daily medication.

Public Urged to Help

Anyone with information on Adams’ whereabouts is requested to contact Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300, ext. 3, or alternatively at 318-673-6955. This plea underscores the pressing need for public involvement in solving missing person cases, which often rely on eyewitness accounts or tips to crack investigations.

Background Information

According to national research, it is estimated that up to 600,000 people go missing in the United States each year. Many are found quickly, but others remain missing for years or, in some cases, decades. Recent technology and international efforts have improved missing persons investigations and their outcomes; however, the cooperation of the public remains an essential aspect of these investigations.

Family, friends and acquaintances can provide crucial information that can forward investigations and reunite missing people with their loved ones. Rapid responses are critical in cases of missing adults, especially when health issues are involved.

Street level engagements

Local residents and businesses alike are being asked to share information about Adams’ disappearance in an effort to get the word out as widely as possible. Street-level engagements involving posters and billboards often complement digital methods in efforts to locate missing persons.
