Cassandra’s on the River Opens Its Doors to Red Lobster’s Idled Workers

Shreveport’s Local Restaurant Embraces Impacted Workers

Local Shreveport restaurant, Cassandra’s on the River, has extended an olive branch to the employees affected by the sudden closure of the Red Lobster in Bossier City. The generous gesture came to light when Cassandra’s management promptly posted a welcoming message on their social media platforms, inviting the unemployed Red Lobster workers to join their team.

Cassandra’s on the River Asserts Its Role in the Community

“We truly value our community. Not only do we hire local, but we also spend local, and our vendors are local,” said Metoya Scott, General Manager of Cassandra’s on the River. “Our community’s prosperity is our utmost concern.”

The news of the restaurant’s initiative was warmly welcomed by local residents and former Red Lobster employees, further amplifying Cassandra’s commitment to its community.

Former Red Lobster Employees Express Gratitude

Many Red Lobster workers who depended on the restaurant for their livelihoods were taken by surprise by the sudden cessation of their services. “I discovered I was jobless through a TikTok video,” confessed one such displaced worker, Kya Stumon, who has since found employment at Cassandra’s.

Stumon, who faced an intimidating task of finding new employment with no notice, gratefully acknowledges the lifeline thrown by Cassandra’s. “I’m extremely grateful for this fortuitous chance,” says Stumon. She also vocalized her appreciation for the team at Cassandra’s for acting with empathy and taking in the affected workers.

A Promise for Better

Scott further encourages affected workers to apply at Cassandra’s, highlighting the restaurant’s flexibility and promise to accommodate workers as best as possible. “It might not be the same role,” she expresses, “but we aim to offer a comparable position. We are eager to contribute to making Shreveport a better place.”

A Surge in Corporate Economies and Local Retrenchments

The closure of Red Lobster appears to be part of a larger trend, with over 50 locations across the country being shuttered recently. This wave of closures has displaced hundreds of workers without fair warning. Despite the corporate advance, Cassandra’s on the River exhibits an empathetic approach, prioritizing local employment and impacts on local communities.
