BATON ROUGE, La. – In an announcement made on Monday, Governor Jeff Landry has appointed Timothy Hardy, a native of Shreveport, to chair the Louisiana Community Technical College System (LCTCS). The LCTCS represents 12 community colleges across the state, serving over 150,000 students and graduating more than 30,000 students annually.

“I am proud to announce the appointment of Timothy Hardy as the chairman of LCTCS. Having served as an adjunct professor for more than 25 years, he will bring the leadership and background needed to ensure our community college system graduates folks ready for the workforce,” stated Gov. Landry. He expressed great enthusiasm for Hardy’s future contributions.

Following his appointment, Hardy expressed his excitement for the new position saying, “Changing lives and building our state’s workforce are major impacts of the LCTCS. I am excited and honored that Governor Landry has given me the opportunity to work with the LCTCS Board, the system leadership, and stakeholders around the state during this most pivotal time in higher education.”

About Timothy Hardy

A partner in the Baton Rouge office of the Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson law firm, Hardy’s area of expertise lies in environmental law. He has an illustrious history in teaching, having been an adjunct professor of law at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge for over 25 years.

Hardy has also held various influential positions throughout his career, including serving as the top advisor for environmental affairs to former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer. He also served as assistant secretary for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), and as a division director for the Louisiana Department of Justice. Furthermore, Hardy has been a part of six Louisiana gubernatorial transition teams for both Democratic and Republican governors.

Upon his academic accomplishments, Hardy holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Juris Doctor from the Southern University School of Law. He was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus from both the Southern University Department of Chemistry and the Southern University Law Center. Hardy also has been inducted into the Southern University Law Center Hall of Fame. Additionally, he is a member of the Sigma Pi Phi fraternity (the Boulé) and the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
