Partygoers were on the edge of their seats Saturday evening as moody music played throughout the three-story Robinson Film Center (RFC). On June 15, the RFC hosted its annual fundraiser, The Robbys. This red-carpeted event was themed after Alfred Hitchcock and allowed for partygoers to explore their creativity through attire.

Among the attendees were women dressed with birds attached to their dresses. In the corner of the Grand Ballroom was a shower where partygoers could re-enact the infamous scene from Hitchcock’s Psycho.

A Night to Remember

The Robbys is more than just a party– it’s the theater’s major fundraising event and the proceeds from ticket sales benefit its programming all year long. Wendell Riley, Executive Director of RFC said, “we are not just here for a party and actually far from it. For the past 16 years, we at RFC have been steadfast in our mission to educate, enrich and entertain the region through film.”

The Planning Process

The planning for this one night of glamour and entertainment began 90 days ago. The meticulous attention to detail and the dedication of the RFC team shone through in every aspect of the event. From the eerie music to the haunting decor, every element was carefully curated to transport guests into the world of Alfred Hitchcock.

Supporting the Arts

The Robbys is not just a celebration of cinema; it is a vital source of funding for the Robinson Film Center’s programs and initiatives. Through events like The Robbys, the RFC is able to continue its mission of providing educational opportunities and cultural enrichment through the power of film.

A Community Affair

The success of The Robbys would not have been possible without the support of the Shreveport community. From sponsors to volunteers to attendees, the event brought together individuals from all walks of life who share a passion for the arts and a commitment to supporting local cultural institutions.

Looking Ahead

As the lights dimmed and the music faded on this year’s edition of The Robbys, anticipation began to build for what the next year will bring. With each passing event, the RFC continues to raise the bar for creativity, innovation, and community engagement, ensuring that The Robbys remains a highlight of the Shreveport social calendar for years to come.
