Annual Sickle Cell Softball Tournament Returning for 46th Year

SHREVEPORT, La. – An area nonprofit is inviting the community to go up to bat against sickle cell disease. On Thursday, June 27, the Northwest Sickle Cell Disease Association of American and Friends of Alpha, with help from The Shreveport Bossier Sports Commission, announced the 46th annual Sickle Cell Softball Tournament. People are invited to come out and join in on fun, food, and entertainment for the whole family. Proceeds will go towards supporting those affected by sickle cell.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “It’s important for the community because sickle cell disease is something that affects a lot of our citizens, and it’s something we will need continuous research so we can help people deal with the disease as well as find a cure for the disease.”
