Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies Marks Grand Openings for Two New Businesses in Downtown Shreveport

Excitement in the Air

Shreveport welcomed two new additions to its downtown scene with the opening of Ono’s Hawaiian Grill and Cooper’s Corner. Both businesses celebrated their grand openings on August 28 with lively ribbon cutting ceremonies that attracted a hearty crowd of supporters and local leaders.

Ono’s Hawaiian Grill

Ono’s Hawaiian Grill, a vibrant new restaurant, is dreaming big. The owner, Sione Maumalanga, expressed his heartfelt emotions during the event, sharing, “I could cry right now, but I’m gonna hold it in.” After running a food truck for eight years, Maumalanga is thrilled to finally establish a brick-and-mortar presence in downtown Shreveport. He noted, “With everything going on with downtown, we are blessed to be here.”

In celebration of their opening, Ono’s offered special menu items, including the much-talked-about Kahuku garlic shrimp, inviting the community to enjoy a taste of Hawaiian hospitality from 11 AM to 9 PM.

Cooper’s Corner’s Makeover

Alongside Ono’s, Cooper’s Corner is making waves as a newly rehabilitated historic building that breathes new life into the Texas Street corridor. The restoration of this old office building blends history with modern amenities, creating an inviting space for visitors and residents alike.

Community and City Leaders Support

The ribbon-cutting events drew in dozens of attendees, signaling strong community interest in the fresh offerings. Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux was among those present, sharing his enthusiasm after visiting Ono’s: “I have already eaten at Ono’s, and I can tell you the food is fantastic.” He added, “I’ll probably be here more as a lunch customer just because I end up with commitments at night, but I’m looking forward to coming over here once a week or so.”

Looking Ahead

As Shreveport continues to evolve, the opening of these two delightful establishments is a sign of promise and revitalization in the downtown area. The excitement felt by Maumalanga and the community suggests that the future is bright for Ono’s Hawaiian Grill and Cooper’s Corner.
