The event will serve as a platform for connecting with the roots and cultural identities of participants and visitors alike. As the event’s page states, “Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and experience the power of art in connecting us to our roots, culture, and each other.

Artist Background

Originally hailing from Puerto Rico, Torres brings a unique perspective to her art, shaped by her childhood memories of the Atlantic Ocean. Her pieces reflect the vibrant colors and textures of the Caribbean, creating a deep emotional connection to her cultural heritage.

The Importance of Art Education

Beyond her passion for creating art, Torres is passionate about teaching it. She believes in the transformative power of art, whether it be as an expressive outlet for children to navigate life’s challenges, or as a means for adults to explore their heritage and experiences. “Through the art, we can know more about our culture. Where we are from, who we are. Art isn’t something simple, no. Since we are born, until we are dead, art is in our lives.,” Torres expressed.

Engaging Activities and Frida Kahlo Painting Class

The exhibition will also feature exciting activities to enhance the celebration, including costumed entertainment, margaritas and cervezas, as well as Mexican appetizers and traditional desserts. Furthermore, on October 2, Torres will lead a Frida Kahlo Painting Class aimed at adults. This class starts at 5:20 p.m. and requires a ticket price of $40, which covers all necessary supplies. Participating guests are encouraged to don their best Frida Kahlo costumes, as a contest will take place during the class.
