Shreveport Welcomes Lisandra Di Liberto Torres for Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

Shreveport, La. – This September, Shreveport will embrace the vibrancy of Hispanic Heritage Month with a special art exhibition featuring local artist Lisandra Di Liberto Torres. On September 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Artspace at 710 Texas Street will host an event aimed at honoring and showcasing the rich cultures of Hispanic and Latino communities.

A Celebration of Culture through Art

The free-to-attend exhibition promises to be a feast for the senses, allowing visitors to explore the colorful and diverse artworks of Torres. Known for her vibrant pieces that reflect her Puerto Rican roots, Torres encourages community members to not only witness the creativity on display but also to find inspiration to create their own art.

“Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and experience the power of art in connecting us to our roots, culture, and each other,” shares the event’s description on social media. Visitors will have a chance to enjoy flavored margaritas and delicious Mexican appetizers as they delve into the exhibits.

Lisandra’s Artistic Journey

Having grown up near the Atlantic Ocean, Torres draws from her childhood memories to create pieces that capture the essence of the Caribbean. Her distinctive style often includes images such as red cows with wings, through which she aims to communicate deeper messages beyond mere visual appeal.

“I want my paintings to be more than paintings. They should bring education, peace, or something good. I hope they make people feel something,” says Torres. This belief extends beyond her artwork, as she places great importance on art education for individuals of all ages.

Frida Kahlo Painting Class

In addition to the exhibition, Torres will host a Frida Kahlo Painting Class for adults on October 2 at 5:20 p.m. Participants can create their own art while sipping margaritas, and a best Frida costume contest will add to the festive atmosphere. Tickets for the class are priced at $40, and this price covers all necessary supplies.

Join the Celebration!

Whether you are an art enthusiast or just looking for a fun evening, this event is an excellent opportunity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through the lens of creativity and community. Follow Torres on her social media to stay updated on the exhibition and upcoming events!
