Shreveport Fire Department Responds to Two Early Morning Fires

First Fire on Kentucky Avenue

The first incident took place just before 6 a.m., specifically around 4:20 a.m., in the 3200 block of Kentucky Avenue. Firefighters were quick to respond, arriving on the scene just three minutes after the alarm was raised. When they got there, they found a single-story duplex engulfed in smoke and flames. The rear of the building suffered significant damage, but thankfully, the residents managed to escape the fire without injury.

With a team of 24 firefighters working diligently, the fire was brought under control by 4:52 a.m. Their quick work not only saved the home from further destruction but also ensured the safety of its inhabitants. The fire department noted that although smoke damage was heavy, the rapid response played a crucial role in preventing a total loss.

Second Fire on Bullen Street

5 a.m.. This time, the firefighters rushed to the 4600 block of Bullen Street. The initial report suggested a grass fire, but upon arrival, the situation was much more serious—a home was completely involved in flames.

Similar to the first response, a dedicated team of 24 firefighters tackled the blaze. Their efforts were commendable, as they managed to place the fire under control by 5:39 a.m.. One resident of the home was fortunate enough to get out and was treated on the scene for minor smoke inhalation. For further evaluation, they were transported to a nearby hospital, emphasizing the importance of safety even when things seem under control.

Investigations Underway

Both incidents are currently under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Department. While the cause of these fires remains undetermined, the department is working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding them.
