Film enthusiasts will have a fantastic opportunity to watch the Top 20 films at BPCC’s Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre. Located in Building C at the Bossier Campus on 6220 East Texas Street, attendees will not only enjoy the screenings but also have the chance to cast their votes to help decide the best film. This interactive experience truly brings the community together to appreciate local artistry.
Dr. Rick Bateman, Jr., Chancellor of BPCC, expressed his excitement for the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with the Prize Foundation again in 2024 and can’t wait to welcome film lovers to our BPCC campus for Film Prize. The creativity and talent showcased through the Prize Fest are truly remarkable, and we’re honored to play a part in this celebration of local filmmaking.”
Food Lovers Rejoice!
In addition to the cinema celebrations, the Battle for the Golden Fork will make its grand return. This thrilling Chopped-style culinary competition is set to bring excitement to the food scene during Prize Fest. Kicking off on October 16, the festival will roll out with an extraordinary food and beverage experience called Come and Get It.
This year’s event will feature six incredible tastings created by competing chef teams. Each team is made up of one local Golden Fork finalist chef and a visiting celebrity chef, promising a delightful fusion of culinary expertise. At the end of Come and Get It, three local chefs will be voted into the exciting Battle for the Golden Fork, happening at 3 PM on October 19 in the Festival Central area. The best part? This thrilling battle is free and open to the public!
The winner of this competition will not only be crowned the Golden Fork champion but will also walk away with a grand cash prize of $5,000 and the coveted Golden Fork Trophy. It’s a culinary showdown that promises to wow both judges and attendees alike!

But the celebrations don’t stop there. BPCC is also back in action as a partner for the Golden Lens Photography Competition, which celebrates the vibrant spirit of Shreveport and Bossier City. Up to 30 photographs will be selected by a jury panel, with one artist walking away with the 2024 Golden Lens First Place Award and a cash prize of $1,000. Additionally, festival-goers will have the chance to vote for their favorite image at the Golden Lens Reception, scheduled during the Film Prize kick-off event in January 2025.
