Shreveport Gears Up for Its Exciting 43rd Annual TASTE Event
Get ready, Shreveport! The city is buzzing with anticipation as it prepares for the 43rd Annual TASTE event, a beloved tradition that has united the community for over four decades. This year, the festivities will kick off on Thursday, September 26, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the spacious Shreveport Convention Center. It’s an evening that promises to be rich in local art, delicious food, and live entertainment.
A Tradition Since 1981
TASTE first launched its culinary and artistic celebration way back in September 1981. According to CEO Laurie Boswell, the event was initiated by a family from Dallas with connections to Holy Angels. It’s worth noting that this same family also started the famous Dallas Wine and Cheese Festival. “TASTE has always been a festival that showcases food, art, music, and the incredible talent of our local community,” Boswell proudly shared.
What to Expect This Year
Attendees can look forward to more than 40 vendors joining in this bustling gathering. These vendors hail from Shreveport, Bossier, and nearby areas, offering a stunning array of culinary delights. If you’re a foodie or just someone looking to explore, you won’t want to miss the diverse tastes on offer. This year also introduces an exciting live auction, which will feature phenomenal items, including:
- A luxurious LSU party bus
- A week-long stay at a house in Orange Beach, Alabama
- A fabulous jewelry piece from Peg & Company
- A stunning painting of the Holy Angels Chapel, specially commissioned and created by local artists
Capping off the evening, guests can enjoy live entertainment by Rouge Krewe, a band sponsored by Sealy Real Estate Services. Boswell expressed excitement about the band, saying, “They’ve got an eclectic offering that is all dance-ready music. I think their tunes will inspire and entertain folks of all ages in the convention hall.” After the performance, get ready for an energetic show featuring the Holy Angels Choir and the winners of this year’s Holy Angels talent show.
A New Venue for Growing Crowds
In a move indicative of its rising popularity, TASTE will take place in a new venue this year. Boswell mentioned, “We loved being in Bossier, and that location was great. But we literally outgrew it, so we decided it’s time to move to a bigger space.” The fresh ambiance of the Shreveport Convention Center promises to add to the excitement of this annual gathering.
Exciting Changes to the Auction Process
If you enjoy a little friendly competition, this year’s silent auction has its twists! With over 150 exciting silent auction items on display, guests will submit paper bids. When the clock strikes 8:30 p.m., all bids will be tallied, allowing winners to walk away with their goodies the same night. Boswell encourages everyone to “come prepared to dance, stay late, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere until we wrap up the auction!”
