Caddo Lake Becomes Star of Chilling New Horror-Mystery Film Filmed in Shreveport

Caddo Lake Film Premiere

Lights, Camera, Action in Shreveport!

If you’re living in Shreveport, Louisiana, you might be excited to know that the breathtaking Caddo Lake is now the star of its very own movie! Titled simply after the lake, this new film has already made waves in the industry, and it’s all thanks to the local talent and scenic beauty we have right here in the ArkLaTex.

A Story Beneath the Surface

The movie, available for streaming on Max, brings a chilling plot twist to the screen. It’s a horror/mystery that picks up when an 8-year-old girl mysteriously disappears. As the story unfolds, it reveals a web of past mysterious deaths and disappearances, impacting a family grappling with their traumatic history. The blend of suspense and eerie elements is enough to keep anyone glued to their screens!

Local Talent Takes Center Stage

Back in August 2021, casting calls were buzzing in the Shreveport area. Crew members actively sought out locals from East Texas and the surrounding areas to audition for various roles. They even held a specific casting call in October 2021 to find the perfect vehicles—cars, trucks, and motorcycles made between 1998 and 2004! It’s a fantastic way to incorporate local flair into the film.

One exciting tidbit comes from Zedrick Tinsley, a Shreveport-Bossier actor who landed a part in the movie. Zedrick had the thrilling opportunity to attend the movie’s premiere in New York! “I couldn’t believe it,” he gushed. “Just to be at the premiere with the stars of the movie, the producers, and the directors…it was a great experience!” It seems he’s ready for even more as he considers auditioning for future roles.

Grounded in Local Roots

The film didn’t just rely on local appearances but also on local workforce contributions. Tony Yuse, the assistant production manager, mentioned that there was an impressive average of 120 crew members working daily during the 36-day shoot. About 65% of the cast hailed from Shreveport itself, while another 25% came from other parts of Louisiana, primarily Baton Rouge and New Orleans. About 10% rounded out the cast from broader locations like New York and Los Angeles. Every single extra featured in the film was sourced from the ArkLaTex, showcasing the area’s rich talent pool.

Wade Marshall, the film and entertainment commissioner for Visit Shreveport-Bossier, expressed excitement about the project’s potential impact on our local economy. “This movie not only provided jobs for many locals but also highlighted the beauty of Caddo Lake,” he mentioned. “I hope it attracts tourists to experience the stunning landscapes and local charm that we have to offer.”
