Shreveport, La. Comes Together for a Day of Fun and Awareness
On a clear, sunny Saturday, with the temperature lingering around a comfortable 50 degrees Fahrenheit, Shreveport came alive with community spirit as the third annual “Kick Against Domestic Violence” kickball tournament took place at Bill Cockrell Park. The event kicked off at 10 a.m. and continued until 4 p.m., bringing together local law enforcement, firefighters, and community members to raise awareness about the pressing issue of domestic violence.
Rallying for a Cause
The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office spearheaded this exciting event, joining forces with several local agencies, including the Shreveport Community Renewal Friendship Houses, Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department, Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, and Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office. Together, they worked tirelessly to create a fun-filled day while also delivering a serious message about the importance of combating domestic violence.
During the tournament, all participating agencies sponsored children from their respective Friendship Houses, showcasing the power of teamwork and community involvement. - Shreveport City Marshal’s Office – Team: Purple Panthers | Coach: Heather Johnson (Queensborough Friendship House)
