It’s the much-anticipated VetFest happening in the East Bank District this Saturday, starting bright and early at 11 a.m. This all-day event is a fantastic way to show our appreciation for the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces.

A Family Celebration for Our Heroes

Bring the whole family out because it’s packed with fun activities for everyone! You can groove to live music from local bands, browse through a variety of local vendors, and even try your luck at the silent auction. And let’s not forget the little ones—a jump house will be set up for the kids to bounce around and enjoy themselves!

Throughout the day, there will be inspiring guest speakers ready to share their stories, and you can also find valuable resources tailored specifically for veterans and first responders. What’s even better? Admission is completely free! So, gather your family and friends and come out to support our local heroes.

A Moving Tribute at BPCC

Bossier Parish Community College will host a touching tribute to our nation’s veterans. They’ve created a stunning display of 1,000 American flags in the quad, the college’s central outdoor area. This presentation isn’t just for show; it commemorates Veterans Day and recognizes the invaluable sacrifices made by those who’ve served in the United States Armed Forces.

The tribute will be on display all day, leading up to a special Veterans Day ceremony taking place at 9:30 a.m. during the morning. This year’s keynote speaker is none other than Charlton J. Meginley, the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veteran Affairs. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the public to join in and salute the courageous individuals who protect our freedoms.

A Symbol of Honor and Support

Each flag standing tall in the quad serves as a reminder of the honor and respect we have for those who served. Together, they create a meaningful display of appreciation that everyone can see and feel. After the ceremony, attendees are encouraged to walk around the display as a personal show of respect and gratitude.
