Sponsor Our ArticlesSHREVEPORT, La. — Amazon’s supplier diversity team is set to host an informational and match-making session for local business owners in Shreveport on Wednesday, April 24. This event will provide an opportunity for local businesses to connect with Amazon and potentially become a resource for the Amazon facility and network.
The session, titled “Elevate Your Business with Amazon,” will take place from 7:45 a.m. until just after noon at Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College, located at 2010 N. Market St. in Shreveport. Topics of discussion will include an introduction to Amazon, an overview of Amazon’s procurement process, and a deep dive into Amazon category contracting opportunities.
Local business owners attending the event will have the chance to showcase their expertise in various areas, including HVAC, grass cutting, medical supplies, shipping supplies, and pallet services. While contracts with Amazon are not guaranteed, connecting with the company at this event could potentially open up opportunities for collaboration in the future.
District 2 State Rep. Steven Jackson highlighted the significance of this event, emphasizing that even if businesses do not secure immediate opportunities with the Amazon site in Caddo Parish, there may be additional openings at different Amazon locations. Jackson noted that a second Amazon facility is slated to open in the Shreve Park Industrial Campus off Louisiana Highway 3132, bringing further job opportunities and economic development to the area.
The new Amazon last-mile facility at the Shreve Park Industrial Campus will enable customers to receive their orders within the same day or by the next day, enhancing the efficiency of delivery services in the region.
Jackson, who played a role in bringing the first Amazon location to Shreveport, expressed optimism about the positive impact of the company’s presence in the area. He anticipates that the second Amazon facility will contribute to job growth and economic prosperity, benefitting both local businesses and residents.
Overall, the match-making session with Amazon represents a valuable opportunity for local entrepreneurs to establish connections with a global e-commerce giant and potentially access new business opportunities and partnerships.
