SHREVEPORT, La. – The wait is almost over. The Amazon Fulfillment Center located at 1625 Corporate Drive, Shreveport, will start its hiring process from July 5, 7 p.m., after enduring a series of delays. The Shreveport establishment plans to provide around 1,000 jobs, which vary from hourly, seasonal, to flexible work.
Louisiana’s esteemed State Representative, Steven Jackson, revealed they would be hiring on a first-come-first-serve basis. Every Friday, starting from 7 p.m., the company will release between 300 and 400 positions for potential seekers. No resumes or interviews are required – once a candidate applies, the position is reserved, pending a background check and drugs screening.
“The only way you don’t get the job is if you don’t pass your background check or if you didn’t pass the drug screening,” explained Representative Jackson.
Amazon has thrown its doors open to anyone who wishes to apply, regardless of age, experience, or even a past nonviolent conviction. The company has also chosen not to conduct marijuana tests. It has expressly invited applications from spouses of active Military personnel and encouraged people with disabilities to forward their interest. Expectations for the hourly pay are pegged at approximately $17 per hour, accompanying benefits.
Candidates interested in exploring available opportunities can visit the Amazon hiring page. For candidates with disabilities, they have provided a separate link on their hiring site.
The buzz around the Shreveport Amazon Fulfillment Center is palpable, with every anxious job seeker eager to hit the ‘submit application’ button brilliantly promising a new economic upturn for the local Louisiana community. As July 5 draws nearer, it is clear that these job opportunities, exceptionally democratized, have stoked the competitive spirit of the Shreveport workforce.
The hiring process adopted by Amazon’s Shreveport Fulfillment Center is a major stepping stone towards equal employment opportunities, proving no person should be left behind due to a lack of formal experience, a past mistake or any disability. The company is all set to stand as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the numerous job seekers in Shreveport and beyond.
