Arson Arrest Made After Second Fire at Jolie Apartments in Shreveport

Two Fires in Three Days

Shreveport has recently been brought to attention as local authorities arrested two women for starting fires at the popular Jolie Apartments, with the incidents happening within a shocking gap of three days.

The Two-Alarm Fire Blazes

On Sunday, May 26, a raging two-alarm fire occurred that required a rescue operation involving a person hanging from a window. On top of that, three firefighters suffered injuries during their mission of saving lives and property. Later, authorities identified and detained a woman in connection with the incident.

First Suspect Arrested

The accused, a 39-year-old woman from Bossier City, Kimberly Denise Halmon, was taken into custody on Monday morning (May 27). Multiple charges were raised against her, including an aggravated count of arson, possession of Schedule II narcotics, theft, and resisting an officer. Furthermore, she was accused of being an in-state fugitive. Currently, Halmon is held at the Caddo Correctional Center.

A Second Fire, Another Arrest

A second incident was reported within the Jolie Apartments on Tuesday, May 28, for which another arrest was made. The 29-year-old Tyvesha Boles, a resident of Shreveport, was arrested under the charge of arson. She remains in custody in the Shreveport City Jail. A mugshot of Boles was not published at the time of this report.

Victims and Damage

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in either of the fires, but the damages incurred by the apartment complex and the trauma suffered by the victims are significant. The impact on the community is also immeasurable.

Investigation Continues

The local police, in conjunction with the State Fire Department, are currently analyzing both cases meticulously. While the arrest of the suspects is a major breakthrough, the investigation aims to identify any potential accomplices and to determine the motives behind these horrific acts.

Calls for Vigilance

In light of these events, authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity swiftly. Raising general awareness around fire safety protocols and emergency procedures are also being prioritized by local bodies.

Public Support

The local community in Shreveport has rallied together to support the victims displaced by these fires. Many are offering housing, clothing, and food to those affected while efforts to rebuild are underway.

Conclusion

The cases reaffirm the necessity for us to remain aware and vigilant of our surroundings and extend help and support to our fellow community members in these trying times. It is also a stark reminder of the commendable job that our law enforcement agencies and fire department carry out in maintaining safety and order, often risking their own lives in the process.
