Live! Casino & Hotel Announces Open Call for Local Artists in Shreveport-Bossier Area

Live! Casino & Hotel Opens Artist Call for Local Talent

Bossier City, La. — In an exciting development for the local arts community, Live! Casino & Hotel has opened up an artist call for creators in the Shreveport-Bossier area. This is a golden opportunity for artists to shine in a brand-new multimillion-dollar venue set to open its doors in 2025.

Announcement of Open Call

On August 12, the Cordish Companies announced their partnership with both the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and the Bossier Arts Council to invite artists from northwest Louisiana to submit their concepts for artwork. The new casino is investing over $250 million in its project located in the vibrant East Bank Cultural District in Bossier City.

Theme and Requirements

The call is focused on collecting fresh, local artwork that embodies the lively spirit of Live! Casino’s entertainment, gaming, dining, and nightlife. John Chaszar, the executive vice president and general manager of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, expressed enthusiasm about supporting local artists, stating, “This region has an impressive roster of talented artists, and we are excited to see how they convey the culture of the state and personify the essence of Live! Casino through their craft.”

Artists wishing to participate must be from Region 7, which includes the parishes of Bossier, Caddo, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, DeSoto, Red River, Sabine, and Natchitoches. Submissions must meet specific criteria: they should be original, framable, and measure 36-by-36 inches.

Selection Process and Compensation

An anonymous gallery panel consisting of Live! Casino representatives, professional artists, and art professionals will review the submissions and select 12 artists to finalize their concepts. Each selected artist will receive $1,000 for their work, providing not only recognition but also financial support for their creative efforts.

Submission Details

The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m., September 13, 2024. Interested artists can drop off their artwork at the Bossier Arts Council located at 630 Barksdale Blvd. in Bossier City or submit their entries digitally through the provided links.

This initiative signals a significant investment in the local culture and a desire to engage the community in upcoming entertainment experiences. Artists are encouraged to seize this chance to contribute to the local arts scene and be part of the creative landscape of the new Live! Casino & Hotel.
