Sponsor Our ArticlesShreveport, Louisiana – A new wave of entrepreneurship is hitting Shreveport as local native Monyetta Shaw-Carter makes her mark in the beauty industry by launching her company, Keep it Classy Nails. Known as a television personality and author, Shaw-Carter aims to offer luxurious, press-on nails that cater to fashion-forward individuals.
Monyetta credits her success to her upbringing, describing it as “the best upbringing ever.” With a close-knit family background and strong ties to her local church, she emphasized the influence her childhood had on her current pursuits. “I was super active in high school, the leading lady of the dance line, the president of my class—all that good stuff,” she recalled.
Shaw-Carter’s career took off when she began her journey in radio as a host for a local hip-hop and R&B station in Shreveport. Nearly 13 years ago, she founded the Evan Grace Group and opened a boutique in Atlanta called Emerlyn & Ester Boutique. With her passion for helping others, she also entered the world of publishing, writing books inspired by her experiences as a mother.
Having appeared on reality shows such as The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Atlanta Exes, Shaw-Carter shared her personal challenges, including her relationship with R&B singer Ne-Yo. These experiences motivated her to write self-help books, empowering others through her journey. “I let my children’s father back into their lives because I was watching you and seeing how you do it so effortlessly,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of being a positive example for her children.
Proud of her roots, Shaw-Carter is enthusiastic about the recent improvements in Shreveport’s entertainment landscape. With the arrival of G-Unit Studios, she believes the city will witness an economic renaissance, creating opportunities and jobs for locals. “It’s back, and it’s going to give so many people in the community opportunities,” she said. “It’s part of giving back, which is what I’m all about.”
As she steps into the beauty industry, Shaw-Carter aims to inspire and uplift others. Through Keep it Classy Nails, she hopes to provide not just luxury products, but an uplifting message about perseverance and entrepreneurship. “I’m so excited for what’s to come,” she added.
