Exciting news is brewing in Shreveport! The community recently welcomed the appointment of Wade Marshall as the head of the Shreveport-Bossier Film & Entertainment Commission. His mission? To transform the region into a buzz-worthy hub for film and entertainment. With over 20 years of experience, Wade is ready to take the local film industry to soaring new heights.
Wade’s journey started right here in Shreveport, where he developed a love for music and the arts. He graduated from Centenary College with a degree in Music Composition and Theory. After kicking off his career in Los Angeles in 2001 as a film composer, Wade couldn’t resist the allure of home. The post-Hurricane Katrina film boom in the Shreveport-Bossier area, filled with potential and promise, called him back in 2007.
Returning home was a significant step, and Wade quickly became a pivotal figure in the local film scene. He joined Millennium Studios, where he took on the role of studio manager and acted as an unofficial liaison, bringing major film projects to the region. For over a decade, he played a crucial part in nurturing the local film industry, helping it flourish and grow.
In 2022, when the City of Shreveport acquired Millennium Studios, Wade adapted to new changes. He transitioned to the Economic Development team, where he continued to support and drive the growth of the film industry while also stepping into the role of Superintendent for Independence Stadium. This role involved managing operations and orchestrating events like the Independence Bowl, bridging his love for film with the vibrant local culture.
Wade’s appointment marks a significant step in revitalizing the Shreveport-Bossier Film & Entertainment Commission in alignment with the 10-year Destination Masterplan spearheaded by Visit Shreveport-Bossier. The plan emphasizes enhancing the region’s unique cultural identity while actively supporting local businesses within the arts, film, and entertainment industries.
Speaking about Wade’s appointment, the President and CEO of Visit Shreveport-Bossier, Stacy Brown, expressed her enthusiasm: “Wade Marshall’s roots in the Shreveport-Bossier community, paired with over 20 years of experience in film and entertainment, make him the ideal figure to take our area to new heights in this industry. We all want to see our area grow, and his vision for highlighting what we’ve already grown together as a community and showcasing Shreveport-Bossier’s unique assets will be instrumental in positioning us as a top destination for film and entertainment.”
Under Wade’s leadership, the Commission aims to concentrate on key initiatives that will not only draw filmmakers and artists to the area but also elevate the local economy through creative partnerships. The focus will be on promoting local talent, enhancing facilities, and boosting the overall film-friendly atmosphere of Shreveport-Bossier.
For aspiring filmmakers and entertainment enthusiasts, this is a golden opportunity to witness the evolution of Shreveport as it strives to become a shining star in the film world. With Wade Marshall leading the charge, the future looks bright.
