Annual Carry the Load relay makes its way through Bossier City

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – Carry the Load is an event to celebrate and remember the lives of veterans and first responders who died in the line of duty. The organization stopped in Bossier City Wednesday afternoon (May 22) which will be one stop out of many as they make their way to Dallas.

Commemorating the Sacrifice

“We have five routes that cover 48 states, and we collectively walk 20,000 miles all the way to Dallas, Texas where we have a big Memorial Day celebration. And we just dedicate miles to those who have fallen,” participant Christian Williams said.

The group of cross-country walkers began their trip on May 1 in Vermont and walk to honor veterans and also first responders. “Because our first responders are our first line of defense, police, fire, medics are the first ones on the scene, and so we always want to remember them,” Williams said.

Remembering the Fallen

Carry the Load is a national event that aims to ensure that the sacrifices made by veterans and first responders are never forgotten. The annual relay brings together participants from all walks of life who are united in their mission to honor those who have given their lives in service to their country and communities.

Expressing Gratitude

As the relay made its way through Bossier City, residents lined the streets to show their support and gratitude for the servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The atmosphere was one of solemn reflection and heartfelt appreciation for the bravery and dedication of these individuals.

Community Solidarity

The presence of Carry the Load in Bossier City served as a reminder of the importance of community solidarity and coming together to honor the memory of those who have passed. It was a poignant moment that brought the community together in a spirit of unity and remembrance.
