"Cross-country sympathy relay walk"
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – Carry the Load is an event to celebrate and remember the lives of veterans and first responders who died in the line of duty. The organization stopped in Bossier City Wednesday afternoon (May 22) which will be one stop out of many as they make their way to Dallas.
“We have five routes that cover 48 states, and we collectively walk 20,000 miles all the way to Dallas, Texas where we have a big Memorial Day celebration. And we just dedicate miles to those who have fallen,” participant Christian Williams said.
The group of cross-country walkers began their trip on May 1 in Vermont and walk to honor veterans and also first responders. “Because our first responders are our first line of defense, police, fire, medics are the first ones on the scene, and so we always want to remember them,” Williams said.

The annual relay brings together participants from all walks of life who are united in their mission to honor those who have given their lives in service to their country and communities.
