What exciting news for the residents of Bossier City! This month, six dedicated community development professionals have joined the ranks of those holding the prestigious Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) certification. This remarkable accomplishment has effectively doubled the number of PCED holders in the state of Louisiana!
The journey of these new PCED holders began with their participation in the inaugural session of the Community Development Institute Central (CDI Central) in Louisiana. Organized by the Bossier Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Community Development Council, the program is designed to nurture and develop community leaders and economic development professionals.
After completing all three training sessions, these passionate individuals proved they not only possessed the expertise but also the commitment to enhance and uplift their communities. Earning the opportunity to sit for the challenging PCED exam is no small feat, and their hard work has clearly paid off!
In a heartfelt statement, one of the co-directors of the CDI Central in Louisiana site shared the joy of welcoming these new professionals to the fold. “It is our greatest pleasure to welcome six new PCEDs to the state of Louisiana,” said Jessica Hemingway. The enthusiasm was palpable as she added, “These individuals have shown that they have the knowledge – along with the heart – to help our communities and our state move forward through the meaningful and comprehensive work of Community Development.”
Did you know? Bossier City is now the proud host of the Community Development Institute? It’s a significant move as it marks the only site in the state of Louisiana and currently a satellite site of CDI Central at the University of Central Arkansas. Thanks to a fruitful partnership with Louisiana Economic Development and Louisiana Tech University College of Business, a cohort of 24 eager leaders from all over Louisiana participated in an intense training program.
Over the course of three weeks throughout the year 2024, these 24 students engaged in invaluable training sessions that have equipped them with the skills necessary for fostering community growth and development.
In the spirit of empowering communities, the Bossier community development initiative underscores the importance of cultivating leaders who are not only knowledgeable but genuinely passionate about their work. This development program plays a vital role in shaping the future of local communities by addressing essential topics that aid in economic growth and community welfare.
With these six new PCED holders proudly certified, they join a network of professionals dedicated to making a difference in their areas. Their accomplishment serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for others looking to deepen their understanding of community development.
As we celebrate the achievements of these dedicated individuals, it’s essential to remember that their commitment to community development is a collective win for all. They are now equipped to implement their learned skills, driving forward initiatives that enrich the lives of residents in Bossier City and across Louisiana.
The Bossier Chamber of Commerce and partners remain committed to fostering such educational opportunities, ensuring that the leaders of tomorrow have the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. Here’s to a bright future where communities continue to grow, prosper, and support one another in a united effort for better days ahead!
