Exciting things are happening in Bossier City! The SONIC Drive-In located at 2802 Barksdale Boulevard is basking in the glow of national recognition after advancing to the Final 12 teams in the prestigious 2024 DR PEPPER® SONIC® GAMES. This achievement is a big deal, not just for the team, but for the whole community!
To commemorate the impressive performance of the Bossier City crew, the SONIC Foundation has generously donated $10,000 to support local public schools. This money is earmarked for educational projects that directly benefit our students and educators through DonorsChoose, a fantastic nonprofit organization that lets individuals contribute to classroom projects that need funding. Thanks to this donation, several local schools will be enhanced with new resources and learning opportunities.
The DR PEPPER® SONIC® GAMES have been a staple of SONIC’s training and community outreach for over thirty years. These games unite drive-in teams from all across the country, bringing together the best and brightest to compete in challenges that showcase their skills in efficiency, service, and hospitality. This year, from January onward, teams faced a grueling series of tests focusing on food safety, guest service, and teamwork, all critical elements of running a successful drive-in.
“These games have truly been a driving force behind our training and outreach,” said Kevin Knutson, Vice President of Training and Operations at SONIC. “Celebrating the success of our top teams while giving back to local schools embodies our passion for excellence and community. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the communities that cheer us on.”
The excitement doesn’t end here! As a reward for their hard work and impressive performance, the Bossier City team is set to journey to Las Vegas this coming September. They will participate in SONIC’s Annual National Convention, where they will go head-to-head live against other top teams for the coveted title of the best drive-in team. It’s thrilling to think about how they’ll showcase their skills in front of a panel of judges!
John Orgeron, National Account Executive for Keurig Dr Pepper, Inc., emphasized the high standards set by these Final 12 teams. “The exceptional service and teamwork demonstrated by these teams have raised the bar for everyone in the food service industry and inspired countless teams nationwide,” he said.
The SONIC Foundation’s donation forms part of the broader Limeades for Learning initiative, which has contributed over $27 million to public education since its inception in 2009. This initiative is one of the largest efforts in the country to support classrooms directly, making a real difference in students’ lives.
