Born on February 27, 1937, in the quaint town of Ninety Six, South Carolina, Jane was the daughter of John and Anna Mae (Burt) Butler. She crafted a life that transcended her humble beginnings, graduating from Ninety Six High School before pursuing higher education at esteemed institutions such as Mars Hill College, the University of South Carolina, and Louisiana State University – Shreveport.
Faith and Community Involvement
As a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, Jane not only embraced her faith but also played active roles in various church groups, including the Parker Class and the Young at Heart group. Her spirit of service extended beyond the church walls as she was a founding member of the First Friends Preschool, a vital resource for so many families in the area.
Family First
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Saylors, Jr., and her parents. However, she leaves behind a loving family consisting of four children: Dr. Bob Saylors of Springdale, AR, his wife Cindy, and their children Robbie and Mimi, who is married to Dr. Nick Gowen, along with her great-grandchildren Michael and Matthew Gowen. Next is David Saylors of Allen, TX, and his wife Melissa, who are proud parents to Madison (married to Justin Housour), Cole, J.P., and Samantha (married to Luc Davis), and they have great-grandchildren Emma and Brayden Housour.
Then there’s Doug Saylors of Navarre, FL, along with his children Jamie and Peyton, and Susan (Saylors) Bryant of Bossier City, LA, who is married to Rick, sharing children Brittany (married to Chase Spatafora) and Ricky. Jane’s extended family also includes a niece, Vicky Saylors Waters, of Greenwood, South Carolina, and several great-nieces and nephews who will remember her as a guiding light in their lives.

Jane’s funeral services will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City. Before the service, there will be a visitation from 9:30-11:00 am at the church. Reverends Mark Goins, Sione Tu’uta, and David Dietzel will officiate the ceremony, honoring Jane’s remarkable journey through life.

Providing a fitting tribute, the pallbearers will include family members such as Rick Bryant, Ricky Bryant, and Chase Spatafora, alongside others who were close to her.
