Flugers Outdoors is set to become the premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Bossier City.
Bossier City, Louisiana, celebrates the opening of Flugers Outdoors at 1120 Airline Drive, Suite 100. The store features a wide range of outdoor gear including bicycles and kayaks, looking to enhance the outdoor experience in the area. The opening aligns with the development of 1North Adventure Trails, offering 10 miles of trails with plans for expansion, promoting recreation and tourism. The owner, Dereck Yagle, has ambitious plans for community engagement including sponsoring events and creating a local activities website.
Exciting news for outdoor enthusiasts in Bossier City, Louisiana! The highly anticipated Flugers Outdoors has officially opened its new location at 1120 Airline Drive, Suite 100. The announcement hit the public ear on April 9, 2025, and it’s been buzzing ever since. Known for its impressive range of bicycles, kayaks, and various other outdoor products, this new store is set to be the go-to destination for anyone looking to enjoy the great outdoors.
The owner, Dereck Yagle, put a lot of thought into where to expand his business. After considering three different cities, he chose Bossier City, and the reason is pretty clear. This decision comes on the heels of the exciting developments brought by the 1North Adventure Trails, an ambitious project that is poised to transform the local outdoor scene.
Currently, there are around 10 miles of open hiking trails at 1North, with plans to expand these trails to a whopping 23 miles of bicycling trails in total. Adding to this, there will be various hiking and running trails, as well as a 26-acre lake for *nonmotorized boating*. The project is a collaborative effort, with the Red River Waterway Commission leading the charge. Their ultimate aim? To boost both recreational opportunities and economic growth in the area.
Colin Brown, who directs the Commission, has expressed how gratifying it is to see the vision for 1North finally taking shape, and it’s all hands on deck to keep the momentum going.
Yagle’s commitment to enhancing outdoor experiences doesn’t stop at just the new location. He is also taking part in the Destination 318 Tourism Challenge, a collaborative initiative with Visit Shreveport Bossier and the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program (EAP). This challenge focuses on expanding outdoor recreational opportunities in the region, and Yagle has his sights set on a particularly exciting project. He plans to fill out a grant application aimed at creating a one-stop website for all local outdoor activities, helping people easily find what they’re looking for.
So what does all this mean for the community? Yagle believes the extensive trails at 1North will undoubtedly attract outdoor enthusiasts and mountain bikers, encouraging more visitors to spend multiple days discovering what the area has to offer. He is already mapping out plans to sponsor races at the park and hosting events like bicycle and kayak demo days. There are even talks about offering bike rentals for visitors looking to make the most of their outdoor adventures.
But Yagle’s vision doesn’t stop there! He’s eyeing long-term opportunities that could allow for camping outside the park, creating a holistic outdoor experience that will cater to a variety of interests. Additionally, Flugers Outdoors is gearing up for a biking miniseries in 2026 that will feature local parks and multiple locations in East Texas, bringing even more outdoor fun to the region.
The development at 1North is already underway! While the entire project is estimated to take about five years to complete, visitors can currently enjoy 10 miles of unimproved walking trails along with initial parking facilities already in place. With all these exciting developments aligned, Bossier City is fast becoming a hub for outdoor activities, and the anticipation is palpable.
As the trails grow and the events unfold, it’s clear that Bossier City will soon be a cherished destination for adventurers of all kinds, and Flugers Outdoors is right at the heart of it all!
