Bossier City’s Walter O. Bigby Carriageway to be Completed Soon

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – A project, that will improve the flow of traffic from North to South in Bossier City, is nearly complete. A major road construction project, aimed at helping improve traffic flow in Bossier City, is ahead of schedule. According to Bossier City’s Louis Johnson, work is projected to be done at the end of July or early August, depending on the weather.

Road Improvement Project Overview

“It runs from Benton Road, all the way to Arthur Teague Parkway. And it will allow traffic to come through the city, north and south, unimpeded. No train tracks, no traffic or that kind of thing,” Johnson explained. He says traffic can be a headache, but it’s a sign of progress.

Ground broke for the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway in 2019. It will be a shortcut between the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway area and Benton Road, avoiding railroad activity. The project is estimated to cost around $60 million and will include a roundabout at the front of East Texas.

Impact on Bossier City Drivers

The completion of this carriageway is expected to bring significant relief to Bossier City drivers who have long been dealing with traffic congestion in the area. This infrastructure improvement will not only make commuting more efficient but also contribute to overall economic development in the region.

Projected Benefits

With the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway soon to be completed, residents and businesses in Bossier City can look forward to reduced travel times, increased accessibility, and enhanced safety on the road. The project’s timely finish is a testament to the dedication of all those involved in its planning and execution.

Future Plans

As Bossier City gears up to welcome the completion of this crucial transportation project, officials are already looking ahead to future initiatives aimed at further enhancing the city’s infrastructure. By prioritizing road improvements, the local government is paving the way for a more connected and prosperous community.
