Heartfelt Tributes and Gratitude in Bossier City

As the leaves turn and autumn settles in, Bossier City has taken a moment to pause and remember a beloved member of their community, former Public Information Officer Traci Ponder. It has been a week filled with warmth, reflection, and a beautiful community spirit that embodies the season of Thanksgiving.

A Touching Tribute

This week, Mayor Tommy Chandler extended heartfelt memories of Traci Ponder, who served the city with dedication. He remarked, “Traci Ponder served the City of Bossier well and was a source of light for all those around her.” The tribute resonated with many in attendance who fondly remembered her vivacious spirit.

The Spirit of Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving draws near, Mayor Chandler shared his heartfelt wishes with the community, reminding everyone to take stock of the many blessings that life has to offer. “I’m proud to have fulfilled one of my major campaign promises — addressing employee pay,” he noted, reflecting on the city’s commitment to their hardworking staff. This change has fostered a deeper sense of appreciation among city employees. As they enthusiastically reported, they are feeling quite “thankful” this season!

Community Connections

Earlier in the week, residents joined together for the Mayor’s Prayer Lunch, an event that encapsulated the essence of community through prayer, fellowship, and a shared meal. Inviting his civic family into the warmth of the gathering, Pastor Justin Haigler from The Simple Church delivered a soul-stirring message that left the audience feeling “thankful and refreshed.” This uplifting atmosphere was complemented with lovely music by Sammy Halphen, adding a special touch to the event.

Mayor Chandler emphasized the vital role these gatherings play in leading the community, stating, “The strength and direction needed to lead can only come from prayer.” His commitment to maintaining this cherished tradition truly resonates with everyone in Bossier.

Celebrating Friends and Family

The spirit of togetherness continued later in the week at the city employees’ annual Friendsgiving celebration at City Hall. This delightful occasion provided a chance for staff to gather and reflect on the significance of Thanksgiving, embracing the true meaning of togetherness and gratitude.

Expressing his sincerity, Mayor Chandler acknowledged the hard work of city employees, stating, “Not one of you is taken for granted. Your time, effort, hard work, and service to our citizens are appreciated with gratitude.” What a wonderful message at this time of year!

Wishes for a Joyful Season

As the holiday season unfolds, Mayor Chandler extended his warmest wishes to all citizens of Bossier City. He encouraged everyone to “slow down” and take a moment to cherish the things for which they are thankful. It’s vital to remember our blessings even as life gets busy!
