Bossier Parish Police Jury Concludes 2023 Meetings Focusing on Tourism, Tax Updates, and Community Development

Benton, La. – Bossier Parish Police Jury Wraps Up 2023 With Key Discussions on Tourism, Tax Notices, and Community Growth

The Bossier Parish Police Jury held its final meeting of the year on Wednesday, and it was buzzing with discussions that matter to our community. First up on the agenda was a fascinating presentation by Stacy Brown, the president and CEO of the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau. She highlighted the significance of tourism and sports in our area, not just for 2024 but also what exciting developments are on the horizon for 2025!

Delays in Tax Notices Explained

Next, the conversation shifted to an important update from Bossier Parish sheriff’s Assistant Chief Deputy David Miller. He clarified recent delays in the distribution of tax notices. Don’t worry, folks! An extension has been granted to ensure taxpayers have enough time to pay their dues without penalties. The new deadline to have your payments in is set for January 31. This means you can breathe a little easier during the busy holiday season!

Public Hearings for New Subdivisions

Another major topic was the plan for public hearings in early 2025. The jurors aim to evaluate and discuss requests for zoning changes related to proposed new subdivisions throughout Bossier Parish. This is a great way to involve our community in important decisions that will shape the future of our neighborhoods!

The jurors understand that as Bossier Parish continues to grow – both commercially and residentially – it’s crucial to hear from the public. It’s about gathering input and addressing any concerns regarding new developments and their effects on local areas.

A Comprehensive Growth Strategy

In step with these discussions, the Bossier Parish Police Jury has decided to work with Gresham Smith Architecture, Engineering and Design Firm to create a specialized Bossier Parish Transportation Plan. It’s all about planning for the future in response to our rapid growth.

Police Jury President Philip Rodgers emphasized the necessity of mapping out a strategic infrastructure plan. “Next year, we will conduct a series of meetings focused on creating a comprehensive plan to effectively manage the significant growth in both residential and commercial properties in Bossier. Our aim is to promote sustainable growth while enhancing the quality of life for all Bossier residents,” he shared. It’s clear that our community leadership is deeply invested in ensuring that every voice is heard!

Renovating Our Roads for Safety

The meeting also dived into the exciting Three-Year Overlay Program, which is set to revamp and repair our expansive network of 575 miles of paved roads. This effort is dedicated to resurfacing streets for enhanced safety and drivability. This means smoother rides and safer travels for all of us!

And for those curious about ongoing projects, Parish engineer Eric Hudson provided updates about the Caplis-Sligo Road Bridge. It’s good to see that work is progressing on such important infrastructure that will benefit our community.

It’s evident that the Bossier Parish Police Jury is committed to keeping our community informed and involved in these vital discussions. As we look to 2025, it will be exciting to see how these plans come to life and shape the future of our beloved Bossier Parish. With just a little teamwork and communication, we can ensure that our growth is sustainable and attuned to the needs of all residents. Cheers to a prosperous New Year ahead!
