Bossier City, LA – Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington has been sworn in by the U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson. The swearing-in ceremony took place on June 30 after Whittington was re-elected as sheriff.

The Swearing-In Ceremony

The ceremony for the re-elected Sheriff Julian Whittington of Bossier Parish was held at 12:50 pm local time. House Speaker Mike Johnson, who previously resided in Caddo Parish but has since moved to Bossier Parish, personally took charge of swearing him in.

Post the ceremony, both Whittington and Johnson responded to questions about their roles and visions for the future.

Whittington’s Plans for the Future

“We have a lot going underway. We that there is a development project occurring down the road. We are revamping and remodeling our criminal building – roughly a $12 million project. We persistently work on that. We are also in talks with Barksdale Airforce Base about possibly developing a joint training facility,” stated Whittington.

He further added that the daily operations of an organization their size and hiring and training good people were some of the huge challenges that the Sheriff’s office currently faces.

Johnson’s Comments and Support for Trump

After answering questions about Whittington, House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed queries from media. The speaker, known for his unwavering support for former President Trump, spoke about the current challenges facing the nation.

“We’re in a time of great challenge. You could argue we are facing the greatest collection of challenges our country has faced, arguably since World War 2, maybe the Civil War,” said Johnson. “But, we are going to get through that.”

Johnson showed excitement about former President Trump’s potential second term and expressed conviction that the Republicans would control the House majority and the Senate.

“I am excited about President Trump having another term, I believe he’ll earn that,” said Johnson. “I believe we will grow the House majority for our house Republicans, that would make my job a lot easier because I’ve been working with the smallest majority in the history of the country, at a one-vote margin for about five months. I believe we will control the Senate as well.”
