Mall St. Vincent is an enclosed shopping mall located at 1133 St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana, just off Interstate 49. It first opened its doors in 1976 on the 100-acre site of the old St. Vincent’s Academy, a Catholic girls’ school constructed by the Daughters of the Cross, from whom it takes its name. Dillard’s is the mall’s principal anchor shop.
The local government invested $16.5 million at Mall St Vincent in 2014, however, the facility’s long-term viability is unknown. By 2017, an outdoor fountain included in the refurbishment project was crumbling and devoid of water, and the plants surrounding the structure had died. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and Gymboree closed their Mall St. Vincent locations in 2017, while Sears was allegedly on the verge of closing in June 2018. Shopping malls have been impacted by online shopping and changing consumer patterns; one in every four may disappear during the next five years.
Sears stated on June 6, 2018, that it would close in September 2018.
