Caddo District Attorney’s Office Prepares to Welcome 22 Youths for Summer Leadership Academy

About 22 Youths to Take Part in Caddo DA’s Summer Leadership Academy

SHREVEPORT, La. — The Caddo district attorney’s office is holding its annual summer youth leadership academy beginning next week. This year’s theme is “the power of art, unity, and leadership.” KSLA has been told that seats already are filled for this year’s academy with roughly 22 students expected to be a part of the one-week program.

Creating a Better Caddo Parish

The DA’s office is partnering with Shreveport Community Renewal Friendship House, Volunteers for Youth Justice, and The Multicultural Center of the South for this initiative. The district attorney’s office believes that taking time with children will create a better Caddo Parish. Students will have the opportunity to learn leadership skills and take part in a host of interactive activities. The message the DA’s office would like to send to students is to remind them that they are the captain of their own destiny.

Empowering the Youth

“The ideal thing would be to keep them out of the system altogether. But if we can give them something to do, something to dream about, and let them see that they too can be the lawyer, they can be the judge, they can be the doctor, they can be the teacher. We just believe that they will make better choices,” said Ivy Woodard, of the district attorney’s office. The Caddo DA’s children’s leadership academy exposes local children to enriching and educational experiences so they dream beyond their surroundings.

Encouraging Positive Influence

The district attorney’s office aims to instill positive values and provide guidance to young individuals through programs like the summer leadership academy. By investing in the youth and encouraging their potential, they hope to see a brighter future for Caddo Parish.

Building a Strong Community

Through partnerships with local organizations, the DA’s office is able to reach more youth and make a lasting impact on their lives. By promoting leadership, unity, and art, they are paving the way for a generation of empowered and responsible individuals who will contribute positively to their community.
