Caddo Teacher Arrested for Alleged Inappropriate Contact with Student

SHREVEPORT, La. – A teacher from Caddo Parish Schools has been arrested following allegations of inappropriate contact with a student. The suspect, identified as Dayton Corbett, aged 32, was taken into custody on Tuesday evening after a pursuit that began earlier that day.

Details of the Arrest

Shreveport police announced their search for Corbett in the morning, leading to his arrest shortly after 5:30 p.m. He has been booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges related to prohibited sexual contact between an educator and a student. This investigation commenced after the police received a tip regarding Corbett’s alleged misconduct.

Current Status of the Case

Authorities have identified at least one victim so far, and investigations are still ongoing. Corbett was employed at both Northwood and Byrd high schools, where he taught and coached students. According to his LinkedIn profile, Corbett had been part of the Caddo Parish School District for the past four years, indicating a potentially established career within the educational framework.

School District’s Response

In light of these serious allegations, the Caddo Parish School Board has placed Corbett on administrative leave and is cooperating fully with police investigations. A school district spokeswoman confirmed that the school board is dedicated to ensuring a thorough inquiry into the matter.

The investigation into these allegations remains active, and it is reported that police had made multiple attempts to contact Corbett prior to his arrest, but were unsuccessful until now.

Community Reaction

The news has understandably raised concerns among students, parents, and faculty within the district. Community members are following the developments closely, as the safety and well-being of students is a top priority.

As more information becomes available, further updates will be provided regarding the ongoing investigation into the actions of Dayton Corbett and the measures being taken to address the situation within the Caddo Parish educational community.
