After fleeing from officers, the driver crashed into a tree and he was allegedly found with an assault rifle in his vehicle. On March 3rd, around 9:30 p.m., the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) initiated a traffic stop at West Canal Boulevard and Amherst Street. The attempted stop led to an alleged vehicle pursuit that ended when the suspect car crashed into a tree in the 6200 block of Quilen Boulevard. Officers arrested the captured the driver, Robert Clark, 33. After an investigation, it was discovered that Clark reportedly had possession of an assault rifle despite having been prohibited from having a firearm due to prior felony convictions. Clark is in custody and faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and aggravated flight from an officer. Clark was treated by the Shreveport Fire Department for minor injuries sustained during the crash.
