Cat Saves Shreveport Man During House Fire
Shreveport, La. — In a dramatic turn of events early on Tuesday morning, a man credited his cat with saving his life during a house fire that engulfed his single-story home in the Country Club neighborhood. Thanks to his feline companion, he was able to escape unscathed.
Fire Erupts in Country Club Neighborhood
At approximately 8:44 a.m., the Shreveport Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at a residence located in the 4100 block of Lamar Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a home that was completely engulfed in flames. The intense blaze required the efforts of 20 firefighters to bring it under control.
A Cat’s Timely Intervention
The homeowner reported that one of his four cats woke him up just in time to escape. “If it wasn’t for my cat, I don’t know what would have happened,” he shared. The quick response of his furry friend gave him the opportunity to evacuate with all of his pets before the fire spread further.

The Shreveport Fire Department managed to control the flames, but unfortunately, the home was heavily damaged. Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries, and the resident was treated by emergency services.
