Celebrating 35 Years of Dedication and Growth at Fire Tech Systems in Shreveport
Shreveport has a reason to celebrate as Fire Tech Systems Inc. gears up for its 35th anniversary next year! Under the leadership of Linda M. Biernacki, the company has come a long way since its inception in 1990. Let’s take a closer look at this inspiring journey and the bright future that lies ahead.
A Humble Beginning
Fire Tech Systems started with just a small construction trailer, measuring a mere 13-foot by 32-foot space and, believe it or not, it didn’t even have a restroom! Fast forward to today, and the company now boasts a sprawling complex located in the Ashley Ridge Business Park. Here, they operate out of a 6,500-square-foot office/warehouse, supplemented by a 5,000-square-foot training center and a 4,000-square-foot addition connecting the two. That’s a significant expansion, wouldn’t you say?
Growth and Recognition
As the company approaches its 35th year, it proudly employs about 100 team members and has offices not only in Shreveport but also in Monroe, Louisiana, and Oxford, Mississippi. They are licensed to operate in six states: Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Alabama. Linda relates, “It’s amazing how September and October have been times of growth for us. Just last year, my daughter, Nikki Biernacki, opened a new branch in Oxford where she’s doing great work in business development, inspections, maintenance, and more.”
An Employer with Heart
Linda emphasizes the importance of treating her employees like family. “Taking care of my Fire Tech family has always been a priority for me,” she explains. “When you take care of your team, they take care of you. Many of our employees have been with us for 20 years or longer, and I believe that speaks volumes about our work culture.”
Linda is a big believer in flexibility within the workplace, ensuring that team members can attend their kids’ activities or family functions when needed. “Our work culture is like a family structure because that’s who we are—family,” she adds.
Giving Back to the Community
Beyond making a mark in the fire safety industry, Linda has committed herself to community service and involvement. She’s been an active member of various organizations, including the Air Force Global Strike Command Civic Leaders Group, and has held positions such as past recipient of the Athena Award. Additionally, she is a member of the American Heart Association’s Circle of Red and serves on the board of the Building Owners & Maintenance Association. She wishes to advocate for the fire protection industry while supporting women in the workforce.
Breaking Through Glass Ceilings
Linda is also proud of being the first female chair of the American Fire Sprinkler Association after years of hard work within the organization. “It means a lot to me to show that women can excel in any career path they choose, even in male-dominated fields,” she stresses. To support this initiative, Fire Tech Systems provides a scholarship for the daughters of company employees to encourage them to chase their dreams.
Looking Ahead
As Fire Tech Systems approaches this milestone anniversary, Linda is excited about the future. “I don’t plan on slowing down. I want to continue strengthening relationships and growing our workforce,” she shares. The company holds a summer bash every year for employees and their families to celebrate, and the festivities will kick off in August, leading up to their 35th anniversary.
