News Summary

A memorial service will honor William Bullifin McConnico, II, a beloved figure in Shreveport, Louisiana, on March 15, 2025. His legacy as an educator and community supporter will be remembered by family and friends. Known for his kindness and sense of adventure, William’s contributions to retail sales and his passionate pursuit of interests like motorcycling and sailing made him a cherished member of the community.

Chattanooga Says Goodbye to a Gentle Spirit

March 15, 2025, is set to be a day of remembrance and celebration in Shreveport, Louisiana, as family and friends gather to honor the life of William Bullifin McConnico, II. After a courageous battle with illness, William, affectionately known to many as “Bill,” passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the age of 71.

A Life to Remember

William was born on September 17, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the loving parents, John C. McConnico, Sr. and Susan Keenan McConnico, who have since passed away. He was raised in a warm household that instilled in him values of kindness and respect for others. Growing up in Shreveport, he graduated from the well-regarded Byrd High School before continuing his education at Louisiana State University Shreveport. His thirst for knowledge led him to earn a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

A Community Leader

William’s professional journey took him down the path of retail sales, where he became a manager for notable brands like Radio Shack and various appliance stores. His exceptional talent in sales was recognized with numerous awards, but it was his kind and gentle demeanor that truly made him stand out. He treated everyone with warmth and respect, and his sense of humor and passion for helping others endeared him to everyone he met.

A Passion for Adventure

As he charted his own course through life, William developed a lifelong passion for all things with a motor. At only 15 years old, he bought his first motorcycle, which sparked a thirst for adventure that would follow him throughout his life. He took to the open roads and sea with thrills ranging from sailing to skiing, embodying the spirit of adventure that defined much of his life. For more than 25 years, he made Chattanooga his home, offering support and kindness to his community.

Family Matters

William’s legacy lives on through his beloved daughter and her mother, Donna McConnico. He also leaves behind a loving family, including siblings: John McConnico, Ann Hutchinson (married to Jon), Edward McConnico (married to Becky), and Susan Valentine (married to Sanford). He also cherished his nieces and nephews, who will carry forward his joyful spirit and memories.

A Sense of Loss

William’s passing has left a void in the hearts of many. Known for his great sense of humor and unwavering love for family and friends, he was a true friend and confidant to those lucky enough to know him. Alongside his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Keenan McConnico, whose memory is also honored during this time of reflection.

Gathering to Celebrate

On March 15, friends, family, and community members will gather at Frost Chapel, First Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA, at 11:00 a.m. for a moving memorial service that will shine a light on the beauty of William’s life. After the service, there will be an opportunity for fellowship in the church parlor, allowing everyone to share their personal stories and memories of this wonderful man. The service will be officiated by Associate Pastor Ronney Joe Webb, who will guide attendees through this bittersweet moment of reflection and remembrance.

A Lasting Tribute

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those looking to honor William consider making donations to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. This gesture not only acknowledges his support for important causes, but it also captures the essence of the compassionate spirit he exemplified throughout his life.

As we remember William Bullifin McConnico, II, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness, respect, and love for adventure. He may be gone, but his spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire us all.
