Shreveport, mark your calendars! A fabulous event is just around the corner, and it promises to deliver an unforgettable evening of fun, fundraising, and a touch of superstar glam. On December 14, 2023, Louisiana Downs will transform into a sparkling wonderland as it hosts the much-anticipated “Christmas in the Sky: It’s Vegas Baby!”. This event is not just a party; it’s a cornerstone fundraiser for the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) and a chance to bid on some stunning items, including a guitar signed by none other than Taylor Swift!
On November 1, Pam Atchison, the Executive Director of Sky, made the thrilling announcement that a guitar signed by Taylor Swift will be showcased in the live auction. This isn’t just any guitar; it’s a piece of music history from her spectacular ERAS Tour. If you’re a Swiftie or an appreciator of great music, you won’t want to miss out! Atchison noted that this guitar is one of twenty-five incredible items that will be up for grabs, and if history is any indicator, bidding for these kinds of items can reach unbelievable heights. “It is an amazing collector’s item,” she said with enthusiasm.
The live auction will take place within the luxurious 24 Karat Club, where attendees can bid on lavish luxuries that could easily become the talk of the town. If you’re feeling lucky, there’s a Golden Paddle raffle that guarantees one lucky winner a $10,000 bidding credit—talk about starting the bidding in style!
This spectacular event relies on the energy and commitment of the Shreveport community. With the help of around 500 volunteers, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council serves up an evening filled with art, entertainment, and delicious dining. The gala is produced under the watchful eye of Chairwoman Heidi Kallenberg, with Elizabeth Kennedy and Ro White stepping in as Co-Chairs to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The Production Team is spearheaded by Veteran Sky Design Chair Linda B. Goldsberry, while Carolyn Marston Brazzel takes the lead as Sponsorship Chair. If that’s not a well-oiled machine, we don’t know what is! And bringing it all together is Henry Price, the President of SRAC, with generous support from top sponsors including Dr. Michael T. Acurio and Louisiana Downs.
As the clock strikes 7 p.m. and the Casino floor lights dim, guests will indulge in a night filled with buffets, a bar, and entertainment designed to amaze. Themed sets crafted by local artists will enhance the atmosphere, making it not just a fundraiser, but a grand celebration of the arts.
If this sounds like a night you don’t want to miss (and let’s be honest, it probably is), tickets are available for an individual admission price of $350. Dress can range from black-tie optional to Va-Va-Voom, so get your best outfits ready for a night of extravagance!
So, whether you’re looking to snag that exclusive guitar, enjoy a night with friends, or just support the local arts scene, make sure you’re at Louisiana Downs on December 14. With the buzz building, this year’s Christmas in the Sky: It’s Vegas Baby! is set to be an unforgettable evening that you won’t want to miss!
