Community Drop-In Session in Bossier City: Join the Conversation!

Bossier City residents are invited to an important community drop-in session on the evening of Wednesday, October 16, to discuss environmental actions and the future of their neighborhood. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) along with the Multistate Environmental Response Trust (Multistate Trust) will host this event to engage with community members on several key topics. The meeting is set to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Red River Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1831 Scott Street.

What to Expect

This drop-in session is the perfect opportunity for locals to stop by at their convenience and have one-on-one conversations with project team members. Have questions? Bring them! The experts will be available to answer queries related to the recent off-site excavation of contaminated soil, the completed residential indoor air testing, and the ongoing environmental investigations concerning the old Tronox/Kerr-McGee Wood Treating Facility.

But that’s not all. The discussions will also touch upon site redevelopment planning that aims to ensure productive reuse of the area in a way that aligns with what the community desires and supports. If you’ve ever wondered about the future of this site or have ideas on how it could best serve the community, this is your chance to share your thoughts.

Getting There

One thing to note is that Hamilton Road is currently closed between East Texas Street and Scott Street. But no worries; you can still reach the church easily. If you’re coming from the north, simply use Youree Street from East Texas Street. If you’re heading from the south, take Hamilton Road from Barksdale Boulevard. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for everyone to join the conversation.

Food and Community Spirit

Attending a meeting can sometimes feel a bit daunting, but getting together to talk about important matters can also be rewarding and fun. To enhance the experience, food will be provided! What better way to break the ice and engage in conversations than over a meal? It’s a great way to build community spirit while gathering essential information.

A Commitment to Empower the Community

The Bossier City community is clearly encouraged to take part in this event, showing the local government and organizations’ commitment to empowering residents. By providing a platform for open communication, team members aim to create a space where community members can voice their opinions and learn about crucial issues that affect their health and environment.

By shedding light on these topics, the LDEQ and Multistate Trust are committed to ensuring that the residents of Bossier City are fully informed and involved in the decision-making processes that impact their lives.

Let Your Voice Be Heard

This drop-in session is more than just a meeting; it’s an offer for residents to have their voices heard. The discussion topics are vital, and the presence of community members can greatly enrich the conversations. Whether you have feedback, questions, or simply want to learn more, your input is invaluable. So mark your calendars, bring your concerns, and join the friendly gathering at the Red River Missionary Baptist Church.

Remember, it’s all about creating a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone in Bossier City—together we can make a difference!
