Shreveport, Louisiana, was recently graced by the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Cotillion Ball, marking its 75th anniversary. The event, organized by the Cotillion Club, was a magical evening of dancing and merriment at the historic Municipal Auditorium, where guests were transported back in time to the whimsical elegance of 18th-century France.
Chairwoman Lara Yerger paid homage to the era of Rococo with her theme “L’Esprit Rococo,” creating an ambiance of unparalleled extravagance at every turn. The venue was adorned with sea foam green walls, filigree “windows,” and royal thrones that set the stage for a night of grandeur. Gossamer white bunting draped across balconies added to the enchanting atmosphere.
The Cotillion Ball was a feast for the senses, with stunning floral arrangements adorning every corner of the venue. From peonies and roses to hydrangeas and cherry blossoms flown in from Washington, D.C., the decor added a touch of luxury to the event. The ballroom was transformed into a floral paradise with topiaries and blooms in urns, brass vessels, and crystal.
The highlight of the evening was the royal court led by King LXXV Chris Frierson and Queen LXXV Emma Deas Pickens. The court also included Prince James Wesley Barlow, Princess Hannah Maurine Falls, and a host of other royal members, each adding to the pageantry of the event. High school seniors served as ushers, adding a touch of youthful exuberance to the affair.
The Cotillion Ball spared no expense when it came to culinary delights. The Royal Banquet featured a menu of French-inspired delicacies, including Boeuf Bourguignon, chicken artichoke crepes, and strawberry Amaretto crepes. Guests indulged in a decadent feast fit for royalty, curated by Uppercrust of Haynesville.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Cotillion Ball, an anniversary book will be published in the fall, featuring candid and formal photos capturing the essence of the event since its inception in 1949. The book will be a tribute to the legacy of the Cotillion and all it has offered over the years.
