Shreveport DDA Executive Director Search Narrows to Two Candidates

Shreveport is moving forward in its search for a new executive director for the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) as the board has narrowed the pool down to just two candidates. Currently, the DDA is in the process of conducting background checks and social media screenings on these individuals to ensure a thorough evaluation.

Next Steps in the Selection Process

Chairman Michael Corbin of the DDA Board expressed optimism about the process, stating that the board and search committee plan to reconvene by the end of next week. During this meeting, they will select a preferred candidate from the two finalists and begin discussions on an employment contract. A public announcement will follow once everything is finalized.

Corbin emphasized the importance of diligence in their selection process, stating, “At this point, we’re doing our due diligence. Glad that we’re using the search firm to assist us with this and we think the outcome is going to be good for downtown Shreveport.”

Background of the Search

In an effort to strengthen their search, the DDA Board opted to hire a national hiring agency back on April 24. Initially, the board examined several local candidates, which included:

  • Adam Bailey – Community Planning and Design Manager for Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission
  • Guy Fortt – Department of Children and Family Services Representative
  • Cedric Glover – Former State Representative and Shreveport Mayor
  • Adrian Diego Lopez – Executive Director of the Save Energy Coalition

Interim Leadership

Currently, Janie Landry is serving as the interim director after taking over from Liz Swaine, who left the position in December 2023.

Looking Ahead

As Shreveport awaits the results of the selection process, the community is hopeful that a strong leader will take the helm of the DDA, providing fresh ideas and direction for the city’s downtown development.
