The Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (LaDOTD), together with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Vicksburg District and the Red River Waterway Commission, began a key study on the prospects of deepening the J. Bennett Johnston Waterway. The proposed transformation aims to increase the current depth of the waterway from nine feet to 12 feet.
