In a heart-wrenching incident that has left the Louisiana State University community reeling, 18-year-old Dillon Reidenauer, a freshman member of the LSU track and field team, tragically lost her life in a car crash on February 26, 2025. The accident occurred at the busy intersection of S. Quad Drive and Nicholson Drive, not far from the vibrant LSU campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Reidenauer was driving her Honda Accord when she attempted to make a left turn, only to be struck by a northbound motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, 23-year-old Bodhi Linton, also succumbed to injuries from the collision. The severity of the impact caused both vehicles to erupt in flames, adding to the horror of the incident.
Before her time at LSU, Dillon Reidenauer was a standout athlete at Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville, Louisiana. Known for her incredible skills in pole vaulting, she was renowned throughout the state, and in her senior year, she finished in second place at the prestigious LHSAA State Championship. Her high school coach highlighted how driven she was, always with her sights set firmly on attending LSU.
The news of Reidenauer’s untimely death sent shockwaves through the Fontainebleau High School community. Described as a sweet and kind individual, her impact on those around her was profound. The entire school is mourning the loss of someone who represented not just talent in athletics, but also a bright personality.
At LSU, the response to Dillon’s death has been one of profound sadness. Coach Dennis Shaver, head of the LSU Track and Field program, expressed his grief over the loss of such a promising athlete.
