SHREVEPORT, La. – Yesterday evening, a man was injured in a drive-by shooting incident near Huntington in Shreveport on the quiet 800 block of Huntington Ln. The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) arrived on the scene promptly after receiving a shots fired call shortly after 8 p.m.
The unidentified male victim was reportedly shot in the left hand, pinky, and upper arm, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Following the incident, he was transported to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport for immediate treatment. No further details on his current condition have been released by the hospital.
The SPD, in its preliminary investigation, revealed that the suspect’s vehicle is possibly a Crown Victoria or a red/orange Dodge Charger. The local law enforcement hope that this description might assist in a swift resolution of the case.
A KTBS’ photographer who arrived at the scene soon after the incident reported sighting approximately 20 9mm shell casings scattered on the ground near the crime scene. This evidence is currently being investigated by SPD to gain more insights into the incident. The motive behind the drive-by shooting remains unclear at this point.
With the investigation underway, local authorities are encouraging anyone with information related to the shooting or the suspected vehicle to come forward. The Caddo-Shreveport Crimestoppers have provided their phone number ((318) 673-7373) for the purpose, reassuring potential sources that they can always remain anonymous.
Local residents expressed shock and concern over the incident, with many highlighting the need for increased policing and community vigilance to ensure safety. While the motive behind the incident remains unclear, it has reignited dialogue around local safety and crime rates in the area.
The police are urging residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities and to cooperate fully with police investigations. They hope that cooperation and community support will play a crucial role in promptly identifying and apprehending the suspect(s).
