Shreveport Police Department Announces Weekend DWI Checkpoint in West Shreveport

Shreveport to Conduct DWI Checkpoint This Weekend

This Friday, the Shreveport Police Department, along with other agencies, will be conducting a DWI Checkpoint in west Shreveport. The checkpoint is set to target drivers who may be driving while impaired but is not limited to this particular offense. The operation will commence at 10 p.m. on June 28 and conclude at 3 a.m. on June 29.

What to Expect During the Checkpoint

During the checkpoint, officers will briefly stop each vehicle that passes through to ensure drivers are complying with the law. The Regional Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) “BAT Mobile” will be present at the site to conduct Breath Alcohol Testing. In addition to the Shreveport Police Department, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police will also be assisting with the operation.

Stay Informed and Be Prepared

As the DWI checkpoint approaches, it is important for drivers to stay informed and be prepared. Here are a few key points to keep in mind:

  • Be aware of the checkpoint location: Knowing where the checkpoint will be set up can help you plan your route accordingly.
  • Plan for possible delays: With increased police activity in the area, there may be delays in traffic flow. Plan ahead to allow for extra travel time.
  • Drive sober: The most important way to avoid any issues at the checkpoint is to ensure you are driving sober. Avoid alcohol consumption if you plan to be on the road.
  • Have necessary documentation: Make sure you have your driver’s license, registration, and insurance readily available in case you are asked to present them.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement: If you are stopped at the checkpoint, cooperate with officers and follow their instructions for a smooth process.
Ensuring Road Safety

DWI checkpoints are vital in ensuring road safety and preventing accidents caused by impaired driving. By conducting these checkpoints, law enforcement aims to deter individuals from driving under the influence and protect the community from potential harm.

Final Thoughts

As the DWI checkpoint approaches, it is crucial for all drivers to exercise caution and follow the law. By staying informed and prepared, we can all contribute to making our roads safer for everyone. Remember, the goal is not only to enforce the law but also to ensure the well-being of all individuals on the road.
