Excitement Builds in Shreveport for the 118th State Fair of Louisiana Starting October 30

Excitement Builds in Shreveport for the 118th State Fair of Louisiana

Shreveport is buzzing with excitement as we are just under two months away from the grand kickoff of the 118th State Fair of Louisiana. The fair will officially open its gates on October 30 and will run until November 17, promising a delightful experience filled with rides, games, and, of course, scrumptious food!

New Schedule and Special Days

This year, the fair will introduce a new schedule, closing its doors on Monday and Tuesday, but fear not! They will open on Tuesday, November 5, in honor of Election Day. The State Fair of Louisiana encourages everyone to “go vote, then come out and enjoy a day (and evening) of rides, games, and food.” The fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both Saturdays and Sundays. Make sure to mark your calendars!

A Fresh Look and Exciting New Attractions

One of the most talked-about changes this year will be ushered in by Talley Amusements, who will be giving the fair a fresh and exciting look. Visitors can expect a grand entrance at the main gate, setting the stage for a fantastic experience. Alongside this, there will be new state-of-the-art rides and thousands of LED lights lighting up the night sky, promising a dazzling fairy-tale atmosphere.

Don’t forget about those little ones! Talley Amusements is making family outings even easier with free charging stations and diaper changing stations scattered throughout the fairgrounds. If you’re looking to capture memories, make sure to meet and snap a selfie with Talley Amusements’ mascot, Lil Tate—he’s ready to pose for pictures!

Safety First: Clear Bag Policy and Security Measures

In a move aimed at enhancing the safety of all attendees, the fair will also introduce a clear bag policy. This initiative is part of a broader effort to align the State Fair of Louisiana with other major events across the nation, ensuring everyone feels secure while they enjoy all the fun. Measures that were put in place last year, including increased security and additional surveillance cameras, will continue to operate in 2023, prioritizing attendee safety.

Ticket Discounts and Free Parking

Fair-goers looking to save a few bucks will be pleased to hear that the Advanced Discount Ticket Sale Campaign will kick off on September 23 and run until October 29. Purchasing tickets in advance can save you $5 to $10 per ticket! These discounted tickets can be bought online at the fair’s official website or at participating Brookshire’s or Super 1 Foods grocery stores. And as an added bonus, parking will remain free for the duration of the fair!

Mark Your Calendars!

With so much to see and do, the State Fair of Louisiana is shaping up to be a highlight of the fall season. So gather your friends and family, prepare your tastebuds for some delicious treats, and get ready for a fantastic time. The countdown has officially begun!
